Overcoming Health Perfectionism During The Holidays (As Seen On FOX 32 Chicago)

If you’re like my private weight loss clients, you’re a perfectionist. Unfortunately when it comes to the holiday season, you may be holding yourself back mentally and physically if this is the case. 

Holding yourself to unrealistic expectations can be hard on you, especially during a season that is so busy! Between the holiday parties and craziness of the season, staying perfectly on track with your fitness goals can be quite difficult. It’s also important to make sure you’re working in rest days to your workout regimen. These rest days are a fantastic way give your body a chance to rejuvenate. 

If you’re taking a rest day, Arnicare Gel and Arnicare Roll-on Gel are great ways to relieve muscle pain, stiffness, and  swelling from injuries as well as the discoloration from bruising. This gel is awesome because it doesn’t leave a stick residue and absorbs into the skin quickly. One of the best parts about these products is that are are plant-based, meaning they are healthy for your body. These products can be found at Walmart, CVS, Rite Aid, Target, Walgreens, and Whole Foods, as well as natural product stores and online retailers.

Another perfectionist mindset that can be damaging to those who are trying to stay healthy during the holiday season is that you can’t indulge in sweets. This is far from the case! Products like BARE fruit chips are fantastic ways to make sure you’re satisfying your sweet tooth while staying on track.

Detox Workout To Burn Calories (As Seen in The Chicago Sun Times)

Whether you’re looking to lose a few pounds before a holiday party or are getting a jumpstart on your New Years Resolution, it’s important to find a workout that is sure to help you burn calories. 

When my private weight loss clients need to lose weight quickly for an event or recover from a night out on the town, I always recommend exercises that are sure to work up a sweat. While sweating can be one of the more unappealing aspects of working out, sweating is a fantastic way to detox the body. A workout that gets you sweating is sure to have raised your heart rate as well as help you feel more energized. A cardio workout that helps you sweat is a fantastic way to stop your body from feeling sluggish as well as get your body back on the right track.

The Best Holiday Season Fitness Hacks To Stay Healthy (As Seen on ABC 7 Chicago)

When many people think of the Holiday Season, their mind automatically jumps to annual Christmas parties and other festivities. While these festivities are always a highlight of the season, they may leave you feeling like you need to put your fitness goals to the side. 

One of the ways I encourage my private weight loss clients to not feel as if they aren’t reaching their weight loss goals is to cut their fitness goals in half. The holiday season is a busy one, and if you are too hard on yourself you may want to throw in the towel or completely forget about your fitness progress. If you keep smaller more manageable goals that you’re more likely to reach you’ll end up boosting your morale and potentially overachieving your goals! 

Another way I’m able to encourage my clients to stay on track is to have them add plant-based probiotic drinks into their diets. One of my personal favorites is the new Plantiful probiotic drink from Lifeway Foods. Plentiful is a pea protein, which is a great way to incorporate vegan foods into your diet.  Lifeway Foods is known for their kefir, but this new allergen-friendly alternative to nut milks is a drink you’ll love. It has 10 grams of plant-based protein per serving and is perfect for post-workout. It also has 10 live and active probiotic cultures which is twice the amount found in most yogurts.

The Best Yoga Poses for Mental Health (As Seen In The Chicago Sun Times)

The Holiday Season is often known for how packed it can make your schedule, which leaves many people in a stressed state. Even though it may be known as the season of giving, it’s important to make sure you’re making time for yourself.

Whenever I can tell that my [stepitupwithsteph.com]private weight loss clients are starting to feel stressed, I always recommend they do a series of yoga poses. These yoga poses are fantastic for centering your body to mentally feel more relaxed. One reason these yoga poses are fantastic at mentally grounding you is because of their focus on meditation. As a certified yoga instructor I always include meditation within yoga sequences to help give you a little extra relaxation while you exercise.
