ABC7 Chicago: How to incorporate better health into your resolution

Trying to incorporate weight loss into your new year’s resolution? There’s more to it than just exercising! There are three F’s that I recommend keeping in mind while planning for the new year!

The first of the three F’s is fitness. When thinking about fitness, keep in mind that you do not need a gym to exercise. We’ve all learned this throughout 2020!

Second, keep food in mind. I recommend increasing your protein intake in the new year. You don’t have to eliminate your favorite foods to succeed in the new year.

Lastly, make sure that what you’re doing is FUN! In 2021, I offer a free wellness challenge. We all deserve to let loose, take some bubble baths, and lighten up on ourselves!

The new year has snuck up on us, and we might all be feeling a little worn out from 2020. To rid ourselves of the stress and anxiety this past year has brought upon us, I recommend practicing yoga. Yoga actually reduces the production of stress hormones, allowing your body to be at peace.

Sometimes losing weight can seem impossible, but it doesn’t have to be! Believe it or not, there are small, simple changes you can make in your everyday life to maximize the amount of calories you burn.

One of the easiest ways to help your body lose weight actually has to do with your sleep schedule! Getting enough sleep helps your hormone levels and immune system reset which in turn could help you lose weight.

There are plenty of other easy tips and tricks, like eating a small dinner or focusing on strength training, which has been proven to show an afterburn effect. Nutritionists at SpoonGuru suggest eating on a schedule!

Sources of stress are abundant as the pandemic surges on, disrupting the lives of many. And if COVID wasn’t enough of a stressor, the holiday season definitely adds another.

Stress negatively affects you both mentally and physically. Mood dips and body aches could both be the result of too much stress. So if you find yourself experiencing fatigue or dips in mood, you may need a stress relief routine.

Whether you have 5, 10 or 15 minutes, I’ve prepared a stress relief routine for you! After a year like 2020, we all need to take a break from our everyday lives to relieve our stress. The exercises focus on stabilizing the mind and relieving chronic pain.

TODAY: How to implement midday workouts

The pandemic has caused many aspects of our lives to change. Because so many of us are working from home staring at our computers, midday workouts have become increasingly popular. And that’s no surprise; who wouldn’t want to get moving after hours of sitting?

I’m a supporter of midday workouts myself. Having a workout to break up the day can do wonders for your body and mindset. Not only do midday workouts help improve circulation and reduce stress, they also help you feel more accomplished earlier on in the day.

So if you have the time to squeeze in a midday workout, I would recommend giving it a shot! You may even find yourself less likely to snack or overeat at the dinner table.

CNN: How to relieve tightness in your shoulders

Tense shoulders can be a pain, especially in the cold weather. If you have just 5 minutes a day, you can relieve that built up tension and start feeling loose again!

I’ve created a quick routine focused on relieving tightness in the shoulders. Tight shoulders can be the result of lots of time spent on the computer, stress, or the cold weather. And it’s completely normal! But that doesn’t mean you should accept it.

I suggest trying shoulder shimmies, shoulder worms, elbow circles, and more. If you don’t know what these stretches entail, don’t worry! I’ll walk you through them!
