The Best At-Home Workouts For Your Living Room (As Seen In The Chicago Sun Times)

With orders to only leave your home if you’re an essential employee or to get essential items due to COVID-19, you may find your schedule turned upside down. If you’re being forced to adjust to staying at home all day, you’re not alone. It’s quite a lifestyle change, which is why I came up with a few workouts you can do from home to make up for not hitting the gym!

With many companies deciding to close for the upcoming weeks to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus, many employees are working remotely from the comfort of their own homes. Working remotely can completely alter your schedule – no matter which profession you are in. Many women are also practicing social distancing, a concept where you stay inside your home unless you are leaving to retrieve necessities.

You may find yourself with extra time in your schedule from cutting out your commutes. I have been recommending my private weight loss clients to take this time for themselves and squeeze in a little workout! This is the perfect time to take a step back and reassess your health and fitness goals.

It’s also the perfect time to take the steps to create your home gym. A home gym doesn’t have to be fancy, it can be your living room or even a space with a yoga mat. There are a ton of exercises and workout routines that can be done with only an open space, many of which are enjoyable to do! When my private weight loss clients ask me what I pack for lunch, I always am curious about what other fitness experts eat for lunch. Do they follow similar nutritional plans? This led me to ask 6 other fitness experts what they packed for lunch.

One of the first people I asked was Roxanne Summerville who is an ACSM-certified personal trainer who specializes in fitness nutrition and senior fitness. Roxanne loves incorporating veggies into her lunches and recommends to keep your refrigerator stocked with frozen veggies so you can quickly have a nutritious lunch.

I also asked Ronnie Lubischer CSCS, who owns Lubischer’s Burn and Blast Training. Ronnie made sure to explain that his lunch is usually his pre-workout and that his favorite lunch always includes a lean protein. 

Kenny Rosenzweig, NASM-CPT, and co-founder of new high-intensity low-impact training studio Rowgatta also weighed in and shared what he eats for lunch. Kenny notes that his secret for lunches that won’t leave him with low energy levels throughout the day is to stay away from foods that are packed with sugar. 

Emily Daly, Charlotte-based CrossFit coach, personal trainer and nutrition coach shared that her go-to lunch is made in an Instant Pot. These pots are amazing for allowing you to quickly prepare delicious and nutritious meals!

Another certified personal trainer and health coach, Katie Austin, shared that she loves having lunches that are big and healthy. She emphasizes how important it is to have a healthy lunch to avoid feeling bloated or dragging for the rest of the day. 

Erin Bahadur, a certified personal trainer and author of “Erin’s Inside Job” blog, shared that she also makes sure to prepare lunches that will last her several days. This ensures she doesn’t have to spend 15 – 30 minutes cooking a new lunch every day!

As someone who has suffered from back pain myself, I completely understand how much the pain can negatively impact your life. One of the best ways to relieve back pain is by incorporating Pilates into your workout routine. A home gym is something extremely personal. Unlike a gym, you customize it to what exercises you will be doing as well as what you enjoy doing. If you don’t enjoy doing yoga, you don’t have to purchase a yoga mat. Taking the time to create a home gym for yourself is a great way to help you see your health as an investment. If you are physically (or monetarily) invested into something, you’re more likely to use it. While some home gyms have equipment worth hundreds of dollars, not all do. In fact, you can purchase quality equipment for around $15 that can help you to take your fitness to the next level!

In a world full of technology that seems to change daily, there are bound to be new gadgets that can help you with your fitness almost daily. The Best Exercises For Your Back (As Seen In Successible Life) 

In today’s world it’s very common to spend hours upon hours hunched over a laptop or even staring at your phone. It’s rather uncommon, however, to do exercises that focus on strengthening your back. 

Having a strong back is essential for daily life. There are a multitude of movements that rely on the strength of your back, but few workouts specialize in strengthening the back. Given the amount of time we spend hunched over looking at technology, it’s essential to make sure we’re taking measures to protect our bodies. Studies have even shown that over 264 million workdays are missed yearly due to back issues. While all of these issues couldn’t have been prevented, many of them likely could have been if the person took measures to strengthen their back on a regular basis.

The cold weather can make finding the motivate to workout difficult. There are a variety of factors that make trying to make yourself go the gym and leave your cozy home difficult… If my private weight loss clients present me with this issue, I always recommend they purchase some basic workout equipment to use in their homes. Equipment like kettle balls and resistance bands make it so you can have your own gym in your living rom which will encourage you to stick to your workouts! Another fantastic way to ensure you’re getting in your workouts is to participate in activities that you enjoy. If you enjoy the activity, you’re more likely to make the time for it. Depending on your location, a gym or local YMCA may offer indoor volleyball or tennis to help you burn calories.

How To Lose Weight While You Sleep (As Seen On The Today Show) 

The concept of losing weight while you sleep might seem extremely far-fetched, but science has recently shown that this may be possible. Surprisingly, some of the ways suggested to help lose weight while you sleep you may already be doing…

If you’re like many of my private weight loss clients, you may find yourself crunched for time. Taking the time to choose yourself and set time aside from your busy day to go to the gym or exercise may seem inconvenient, but everyone has to make the time to sleep! While the weight loss doesn’t come from burning calories while you are asleep, sleeping can help encourage the body to not hold on to fat due to the natural circadian rhythms. When you interrupt the natural circadian rhythms, that’s when your body will be more inclined to hold onto fat.

The Best Ways To Use Resistance Bands (As Seen In NBC News Better) 

A resistance band may look like it wouldn’t drastically change your strength training routine, but that is far from the case! I always recommend my private weight loss clients add one to into their workout routines. 

Resistance bands are one of the best and most cost effective tools you can add to your gym bag. Whether you’re working out in a hotel room or even in your at home gym, you’ll quickly start to see the benefits of incorporating a resistance band into your workouts. Most people don’t realize that a resistance band can be even more effective than traditional strength training with free weights. They’re also one of the best fitness tools that you can easily fit in your pocket to take the gym or stick in your bag to get through TSA!
