Toning the back of the legs is one of the best ways to decrease the appearance of cellulite! 

One of the things I hear many of my private weight loss clients talk about wanting change on their body is cellulite. When a client mentions that they dislike this about their body, I always share with them that getting rid of cellulite isn’t the best solution to their problem, the solution is learning how to enhance their body naturally. It’s very difficult to completely get rid of cellulite, but toning the back of your legs and lower body can make it so that it’s much less noticeable! Whether they’re getting ready for a beach vacation, an elegant dinner, or even just to feel better about themselves it’s important that they understand this is a process that takes time. How to Get Rid of Cellulite

Have you ever wondered how to get rid of cellulite? If cellulite has become a problem for you,  you’re not alone. You may consider it unsightly or blame yourself for getting it, but it’s a common problem. In fact, studies have shown that as many as 90 percent of women have cellulite.

Because I’m a weight loss coach for women, women often ask me how to get rid of cellulite. It isn’t easy but it is possible to minimize the appearance of cellulite on your body. If you have cellulite, you should know that it’s nothing to be ashamed of and the first step toward feeling better about it is to love your body right now, no matter what.

Here are a few more facts about cellulite:

  • Even women who are thin, fit, muscular or athletic often notice that they have cellulite.
  • Being overweight or obese does not necessarily increase the likelihood of cellulite, but it is likely to make the divots appear larger and far more noticeable.
  • Genetics is often a factor. If the women in your family have cellulite, you are more prone to having it as well.
  • Cellulite appears lumpy because fat cells are stored right beneath the skin and push through the connective tissue and fascia.

While you may not be able to get rid of cellulite completely, there are some exercises, self-care practices, and foods that can help reduce it. I always say that it’s important to approach your cellulite reduction from a holistic and integrated standpoint.

I recently stopped by the Fox 32 Chicago studio to share some of my favorite tips on how to get rid of cellulite.

  • Lose the fat. The less fat you have on your body, the less noticeable your cellulite will be. It may still be there, but it won’t stand out as much.
  • Stay hydrated. Drink half your bodyweight in ounces and snack on hydrating fruit and veggies, such as watermelon and cucumbers.
  • Brush or scrub your skin in a circular motion to stimulate the lymph.
  • Massage the fascia with a foam roller to increase blood and lymph flow.
  • Integrate proper nutrition into your diet with healthy fats, such as salmon and sunflower seeds.
  • Pump up your exercise by working and stimulating muscles in the affected area.

Easy Cellulite Blasting Tips

When bathing suit season rolls around, many women start to worry about their cellulite. Here are some easy cellulite blasting tips to lift, tighten, and tone your butt and upper thighs:

-Standing with feet as wide as your hips, engage your abs and point your right toe behind you. Slowly lift your straight right leg up a few inches, and then tap back down. Engage your lower glute and upper hamstring and lift up and down. Repeat this 20 times.

-On your hands and knees, point your right leg back, keeping it straight, and slowly lift it up to the level of your hip, then lower down. Repeat 20 times working the same area: lower glute and upper hamstring.

-Lunges: Step one foot forward and one food back. Bend the front knee directly over the front ankle, and bend the back knee straight down towards the ground. Press the front heel into the ground to stand up. By pressing down with the front heel (instead of the toes), you’re activating the upper hamstring and glutes, and also avoiding knee injury. Repeat 20 times per leg.

-Lying on your stomach, legs up towards the ceiling. Straighten your legs, and slowly lower them down a couple of inches, being sure to keep your abs engaged. Squeeze your inner thighs together, squeeze your butt, turn your toes out and quickly clap your heals together. Repeat 20 times, squeezing your hamstrings and butt muscles. You can repeat this exercise while lying on your stomach, with your legs straightened behind you. Lift them up off of the ground, squeeze, and clap.
