Best Foods to De-Bloat & Best Things to Help with Bloating (As Seen on Fox Chicago)

Are you one of the 30% of Americans who regularly feel bloated? Holding onto water weight is one of the worst feelings, which is why I always recommend eating non-processed foods! 

Processed foods can make you even more bloated because of the amount of sodium that’s added to them. If you’re trying to cut down on feeling bloated, make sure you’re not overeating! It’s also important to make sure you’re chewing your food appropriately to help with digestion. Another aspect of cutting down the water weight is to make sure you’re drinking enough water to flush out your system!

The Best Warm Up Stretches for Runners and Cool Down Stretches for Runners (As Seen on NBC News Better)

Every runner is aware that they need to be doing stretches before and after their run, but many runners don’t know what type of stretches they need to be doing! These 2 workout sequences I designed help to prime your muscles and recover more quickly! 

When you warm up, it’s essential to do dynamic stretches that help to prevent injury. These stretches are done fluidly without a pause to help prepare your muscles for movement. Static stretches on the other hand, the stretches you should do to cool down, are held in order broaden your range of motion. Many runners are aware of this but aren’t aware of how long to do each type of stretch or which stresses are more effective, which is why I designed a warm up and a cool down sequence. These sequences are perfect for runners because they focus on the muscles you’ll use while you run!

 Simple Summer Workout with Only 3 Workout Moves (As Seen on CNN’s HLN)

Summer is here, so I love to take my workouts outside! Even if I’m just outside for a few minutes, I love soaking in the Vitamin D that I wouldn’t have gotten otherwise. I came up with this 6 minute workout that uses 3 moves that you can do without any gym equipment! 

 

Whether you want to do these 3 workout moves indoors or outdoors, this full body workout routine will only take you 6 minutes. I love them because while they’re effective enough to get your heart rate going, they don’t require you to use any equipment. They’re also perfect to do wherever you are – on the go or at the gym!

Summer Workouts For Every Fitness Level (As Seen on NBC News Better)

Getting outside and soaking up the summer sun is one of the best feelings in the world. When the weather is so nice, you don’t have to stay inside inside of a gym to squeeze in your workout!

Running for Weight Loss (As Seen on Under Armour’s Map My Run)

“Is running the best cardio for weight loss?” This is the question I frequently am asked when I start coaching one of my private weight loss clients. The answer, however, varies from person to person!

Getting your heart rate up is essential for weight loss, so I always suggest doing whatever that person will be consistent with! There are some people who hate running, and that is perfectly fine. Everyone is different! There are so many cardio options that aren’t running! Consistency is the key with doing cardio for weight loss. If you decide that running is a form of cardio you can be consistent with, it’s also important to realize that you’re most likely going to hit a plateau. Plateaus can occur with a variety of workouts, and they are important to make sure you’re losing weight in a healthy way! Best Inner Thigh Exercises (As Seen on NBC News Better)

Toning up your inner thighs doesn’t just get rid of the “jiggle” many people are self-conscious about, it also can help to strengthen your core and reduce the risk of injury! Targeting this area through cardio can help the performance of your body overall. 

Another added benefit of targeting your inner thighs with cardio workouts is that you’re working to prevent damage to the knee and hip. Dr. Steven Struhl, a board-certified orthopedic surgeon at NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital, even notes that toning the inner thighs is essential to create a strong core. The Best Stretches for Runners Before & After a Run (As Seen in Chicago Sun Times)

No matter where you’re running, stretching is essential. It’s especially important to do dynamic stretches before you go for a run so that your body is prepared to keep moving! It’s also important to make sure you’re doing the proper stretches to calm your muscles after a run.

Stretching is an essential part of any workout routine, especially during the warm up. Dynamic stretches are great ways to help warm your body up, which also helps your body to get prepared for movement. It isn’t enough to just stretch before your workout though, it’s also very important to stretch after you run! The stretches you should do after a run are very different than the stretches you’d do before a run – you’ll want to hold your stretches.

Yoga Poses to Help You Sleep (As Seen on NBC News Better)

If you have trouble falling asleep at night, you’re not alone! Many of my private weight loss clients (and myself at times) also struggle with this. What many people don’t realize, however, is that stress is the reason they are struggling to fall asleep! 

Doing yoga before you go to bed can help you to fall asleep faster because of the way the poses can help to calm your nervous system. Dr. Kenneth Lee, Assistant Professor of Sleep Medicine and Neurology at the University of Chicago Medical Center, notes that doing yoga not only helps you to fall asleep faster but also improves the quality of sleep you’ll have.
