While working from your couch or bed you may be extremely comfy, it may lead to adverse impacts on your posture. Most office chairs are designed to help improve your posture with features encouraging you to sit up straight and keep your feet flat on the floor. Your bed or couch, on the other hand, may not.

How you’re sitting when you’re working on a laptop may not seem like it would be a big deal, but it can really take a toll on your posture. While laying down while working may seem fun and exciting at first since you can’t do it at a traditional office, you’ll start to quickly notice neck and back pain. When you’re in the office, you’re likely sitting at desks specifically designed to help you have good posture. The same goes for your desk chairs – many of them have posture support in mind when they were created. If you’re going to start working from your kitchen chair or even your couch these areas may not offer your body the same levels of support. 

Taking measures to do workouts that can help to correct bad posture and strengthen your abs can help to tone your midsection as well as help with back and neck pain. The Best Yoga Sequences For Cold Weather Posture (As Seen In The Chicago Sun Times)

Cold weather can have many impacts on your overall health and wellness, but one way many women don’t realize it can impact them is in their posture. Whether you’re avoiding the cold by hunching over or walking faster than usual your posture may cause your hips to get tighter and your shoulders to hunch over. 

Being a certified yoga instructor, I understand the importance of improving your posture. One thing many of my private weight loss clients are shocked to find out is that you don’t have to attend yoga classes to get the benefits of yoga – you can strategically do yoga poses throughout your day for the same impact on your body! When it comes to yoga for posture I recommend poses that focus on opening up your chest, shoulders, and back. Five Minute Yoga For Better Posture (As Seen on Good Morning America)

Doing exercises to improve your posture are some of the best exercises you can do for yourself. Luckily, some of these yoga sequences can be done in five minutes or less.

Improving your posture doesn’t just lead to you being able to move around and perform day to day tasks better, it leads to you being able to relieve some of your back pain and neck tension. These tensions build up and can leave you feeling sore, but there are yoga poses that you can do to help relieve this tension. Many of my private weight loss clients have complained of neck and back pain relating to staring down at technology all day. When they mention this, I always recommend yoga sequences like these to help them relieve this tension.

Stretches for Better Posture & Exercises to Reduce Low Back Pain (for NBC News Better)

Working long hours at the office can lead to harmful impacts on your back and your posture. That’s why I always recommend that my private weight loss clients do exercises to improve their posture.

Having poor posture can lead to many negative health effects, one of which being back pain. Luckily there are exercises that can help to strengthening your upper back and open up your chest which can help to alleviate your back pain.
