Using A Broom For A Full-Body At-Home Workout (As Seen On The Today Show) 

While you may feel that using a broom gives you a workout, there are other ways to use a broom to give your body a great workout. I created a workout that turns this common household essential into the ultimate tool to give yourself a full-body workout!

If you don’t have a broom, other similar household items will work perfectly fine for this workout. A mop or even a Swifter Mop will work the same way. If you’re going to use a Swifter, you may way to take out the part with the liquid in it – if it leaks it may make a mess on your floor. 

I love this workout I created that uses a broom for a full-body workout because it helps to challenge the core as well as encourages you to use proper form. Not only will you be getting a full-body workout, you’ll also be helping to improve your posture. There are a variety of ways to tone your arms from home, some of which being using soup cans or bottles of water as weights. As long as an item is within 3 – 8 pounds, it can be used as a great weight. If you don’t want to go to the trouble of finding items to do that with, however, there is another option! 

I’ve been recommending my private weight loss clients approach arm workouts a little differently lately… I’m having them use a wall for their arm workouts! This has many benefits, one of which being how accessible walls are! There are a variety of exercises you can do on walls to help tone your arms, some exercises are more suitable for beginners and some are slightly more elevated and can help you step up your arm workouts. One of the main ways I’ve been advising my private weight loss clients to avoid the working from home hunch is to change the way that they’re sitting! There are certain positions that make you much more likely to sit with improper posture. While it’s very easy to sit with bad posture, it’s important to sit in positions that you are more likely to use proper posture in. 

Another way to avoid the working from home hunch is to do a series of stretches that promote better posture. Stretching is a great way to get your blood flowing and can even help your body recognize what proper posture feels like. In order to help combat bad posture, I recommend stretching at least once an hour while working remotely. You’ll be surprised how much better your back, neck, and shoulders feel!

Maintaining Mental Health During Quarantine with Gina DeVee (As Seen On IGTV) 

Taking the time to put yourself first and be the best version of yourself is much more easily said than done. Many women may feel like they are selfish for taking time for themselves, which is far from the truth. Gina DeVee, a phenomenal psychotherapist and women’s empowerment coach, joined me to talk about all things self care and empowerment. 

Gina recently published her book ‘The Audacity to Be A Queen’ which is what we focused this chat on IGTV about. This book is fantastic and I can’t recommend it enough! During this time of social distancing and uncertainty, many women are left feeling drained. One of the best pieces of advice Gina gave on this video was to take this time to reevaluate where you are in your life. Rope courses may not typically be seen as the workout that they are, but mainly for the fun activities you can do on them. I always tell my private weight loss clients that activities like these are the perfect workout because you have so much fun doing them that you don’t even know how much of a workout you’re getting! 

Completing a rope course challenges you mentally and physically. Your core has to remain engaged in order to offer you stability and your mind has to be engaged to help you overcome obstacles! A Quick At-Home 10-Minute Arm and Posture Workout (As Seen On IGTV) 

One thing I’ve been making sure to do during this period of social distancing is to squeeze in a workout after lunch! Doing this is a fantastic way to get your blood flowing as well as work on your posture. 

 

This workout is brought to you by Boiron’s Arnicare Gel. This topical gel can be applied at the first sign of pain or bruising to help fade bruising and alleviate pain. Another major selling point for this gel is that it’s fragrance free! I personally have been using this product for over 20 years to help with various aches and pains. When it comes to working out, I always recommend having a set of dumbbells on hand for your home gym. But if you don’t have any gym equipment, you can substitute them for household items. I always recommend my private weight loss clients use items that range from 3 to 4 pounds as a substitute for dumbbells. You can use items such as milk, orange juice, or even textbooks!

How To Use Your Headboard For Stretching In Bed (As Seen On Today Show Online) 

Let’s face it… tech neck is real. Looking down at your phone or laptop while remotely working due to the Coronavirus may seem like it isn’t doing you any harm, but it may be causing you tension in your upper back, shoulders, and neck. Using your headboard for stretching may seem a little out there, but I always recommend my private weight loss clients start their day by stretching in bed. Doing stretches in bed not only feels cozy and amazing, but can also motivate you to be healthier that day! If you don’t want to do these stretches in bed you can always do them against a wall. 

One reason I highly recommend doing neck stretches is to help your muscles feel what proper posture is like. This muscle memory makes you a little more aware of your posture throughout the day and can even motivate you to have better posture overall! The Best 10-Minute Zen Workout (As Seen On IGTV) 

I have taken this time of quarantine to really focus on my private weight loss clients and design workouts that are beneficial to them! One topic that is consistently being brought up is quick workouts that can reduce stress while also making an impact on your body. 

One of the most important things I shared with her is to consider that you need to ditch your ‘all or nothing’ mindset. Don’t entirely skip your workout if you only have 10 minutes – that doesn’t help you in the long run! Try a quick workout that you can do during this time frame. 

During this IGTV video Karina from The Karina Method joined me for a quick 10-minute workout that can help you find your zen. This workout can be particularly impactful for you because it is a ‘moving meditation’ – you’ll be relieving stress while also exercising. If you’re going to do this workout, make sure to really focus on the breathing! That is the best way to make sure you’re getting the most out of your time and your workout.

Being a certified health and fitness coach has led me to being hyper-aware of my posture. Maintaining proper posture doesn’t just make you appear more confident it even prevents you from future back and neck pain. 

One thing I’ve encouraged my private weight loss clients to do during this time is to assess their current home offices. While working from your couch or bed you may be extremely comfy, it may lead to adverse impacts on your posture. Most office chairs are designed to help improve your posture with features encouraging you to sit up straight and keep your feet flat on the floor. Your bed or couch, on the other hand, may not.

How you’re sitting when you’re working on a laptop may not seem like it would be a big deal, but it can really take a toll on your posture. While laying down while working may seem fun and exciting at first since you can’t do it at a traditional office, you’ll start to quickly notice neck and back pain.
