As someone who has suffered from back pain myself, I completely understand how much the pain can negatively impact your life. How To Set Fitness Goals (As Seen In The Chicago Sun Times) 

January is over, and for many women, so are the fitness resolutions they set for the new year. As a private weight loss coach, one question I am frequently asked about the best ways to set goals for weight loss that will lead to sustainable weight loss. 

Setting a goal to lose weight is one of the most commons goals women set. One common weight loss misconception is that all goals are treated equally – which is far from the case. If you have the goal to lose weight it’s important to look within yourself and discover the reason why you want to lose weight. When you’re able to determine the real reason you want to make a change in your health, you’re far more likely to be successful. Going to a ski resort for a vacation with your family and loved ones can be a fun vacation, but it’s important to prepare your body for the use of muscles you don’t use as often. Skiing without preparing your body can leave you waddling around the next day with sore glutes and thighs and can put a damper on your ski resort vacation. Skiing and snowboarding use muscles that are similar to the ones you use while cycling and swimming. When preparing for a ski trip you want to do exercises that focus on stamina, balance, and posture. The Best Yoga Sequences For Cold Weather Posture (As Seen In The Chicago Sun Times)

Cold weather can have many impacts on your overall health and wellness, but one way many women don’t realize it can impact them is in their posture. Whether you’re avoiding the cold by hunching over or walking faster than usual your posture may cause your hips to get tighter and your shoulders to hunch over. 

Being a certified yoga instructor, I understand the importance of improving your posture. One thing many of my private weight loss clients are shocked to find out is that you don’t have to attend yoga classes to get the benefits of yoga – you can strategically do yoga poses throughout your day for the same impact on your body! When it comes to yoga for posture I recommend poses that focus on opening up your chest, shoulders, and back. Given the amount of time we spend hunched over our phones, there is no wonder many women have bad posture! Yoga is a fantastic way to correct this issue. Certain yoga poses focus on a twisting of the spine, which in turn compresses the internal organs. This helps to detoxify the body because of the fresh blood that rushes to your organs after leaving the yoga pose. I recommend yoga poses that detoxify the body to my private weight loss clients because of the way they are able to improve their posture while also helping the organs of your body.

The Best 5 Minute Yoga Routine To De-Stress (As Seen In NBC News BETTER)

Getting past all the relaxation of the holiday season and getting back into a regular routine can be hard on your body. Returning to work, school, or even just into an everyday pattern can seem difficult.

When my private weight loss clients tell me they’re feeling stressed, I always recommend them to take the time to relax with some yoga. Even if you’re having a busy day, you most likely can find the 5 minutes you need to dedicate to yourself in order to complete a relaxing and tension relieving yoga routine. This 5 minute yoga routine is also fantastic because you can do it in the morning, evening, or even whenever you start to feel stressed!

Five Minute Yoga For Better Posture (As Seen on Good Morning America)

Doing exercises to improve your posture are some of the best exercises you can do for yourself. Luckily, some of these yoga sequences can be done in five minutes or less.

Improving your posture doesn’t just lead to you being able to move around and perform day to day tasks better, it leads to you being able to relieve some of your back pain and neck tension. These tensions build up and can leave you feeling sore, but there are yoga poses that you can do to help relieve this tension. Many of my private weight loss clients have complained of neck and back pain relating to staring down at technology all day. When they mention this, I always recommend yoga sequences like these to help them relieve this tension.

Best ways to Avoid Back Pain During Yoga (as seen on NBC News better)

Yoga is supposed to be a method of relieving your back pain, but if done improperly it can contribute to it. 

As someone who used to suffer from lower back pain, I always knew that there had to be a way to modify yoga in order to receive better results. Even when I used to practice yoga I was left with lower back pain that was difficult to ignore. After receiving my certification to become a yoga instructor, I researched small modifications that I could do to alleviate my pain during yoga. With these five small tweaks I was able to walk out of yoga class with less lower back pain than ever before!
